SHRINE

entry 4: my favorite nu metal band of all time, left.

formed in 1998. in frankenmuth, michigan. with matt dalton (vocals, guitar, and occasionally drums), dan schlicker (guitar), ryan fleming (bass and background vocals) and dustin malicoat (drums). in 1999, they would go on to record their debut demo ep "we deliver for you" in michigan.

the ep became popular in the michigan area. that popularity would lead to them preforming at festivals like milwaukee metal fest, and dirt fest.

in 2000, they would sign to medea records, the same label that factory 81 was signed to.

in mid 2000, they would start recording their second albumm "my disease", it was released in feburary 2001. to acclaim from music reviewers.

in efforts to promote the album. they would preform all throughout 2001. they also released singles (some of which are lost). such as sex with cats...yes that's the actual name, and the re-recording of kfh.

their vocalist matt dalton was also very well liked in the michigan underground music scene. so much in fact, that he was able to take a break from recording with left to go record music with arizing. another band signed to medea records. the other members of left would go on to make the band "alogon"

matt dalton's vehicle (his only means of transportation) broke down while he was practicing with arizing all the way in detroit (a 2 hour walk away from frankenmuth). in an attempt to take full ownership of left's recordings, medea records ended up suing matt dalton.

they later reunited to perform one last time at dirt fest 2004, even handing out an unreleased ep at the festival (the ep has yet to surface online)

matt dalton would later become a recording engineer. working with bands such as atilla, and i see stars.

sorry i forgot to mention this earlier, but matt dalton actually created dirt fest in 1998. and it still exists to this day (wow). bands such as...ahem. silverstein, every time i die, the dillinger escape plan, the black dahlia murder, mushroomhead, coalchamber, fearfactory, taproot, asking alexandria, sevendust, trapt, escape the fate, la dispute. and many, many more.

it was so popular in fact, that they ended up getting sponsorships from companies such as rockstar energy, pepsi, ford, bud light, and red bull.

so i'd say he's done pretty well for himself :) sadly i couldn't find any information on any of the other members.
